Do you know what the top bug is? I photographed one a couple of years ago and finally identified it as one of the Kentucky Soldier Beetles... most probably a Goldenrod Leatherwing (Chauliognathus pennsylvanicus. Very nice images and I too am missing summer!
Victoria, that's definitely C. pensylvanicus. It's very common, but never loses its appeal to me. An interesting fact: its specific epithet is a misspelling of Pennsylvania, but due to nomenclature rules, it stuck!
